"All because of Hitch"

Welcome to the film website about the legendary Scottie Hitchcock

A true story about a remarkable Scottish Terrier named Hitchcock who, as an underdog in agility dog sports, inspired people all over the world through his extraordinary achievements and opened their eyes to a new dimension in their relationship with their dog.

The story

The film tells the remarkable story of a Scottie named Hitchcock and his family from the perspective of his canine ‘brother' Finnlay. Hitchcock was a highly sensitive individual, very intelligent and extraordinary in his committment to cooperate with his humans.

He became famous for being the first representative of his exotic breed to qualify for an international agility competition. The combination of his owners, Mike being a film maker and Bettina a professional dogtrainer meant his feats could be shared worldwide on social media. Countless people had their eyes opened to how Scotties love to be mentally engaged and, as a result, experienced how this added a new dimension to their relationship with their dog. Hitchcock's story touches the viewer. It is authentic, honest, funny, emotional and deals with topics that are relevant to us all. Especially in stressful times, this film can highlight what really matters and how valuable and beautiful life is.

The film shows in a very entertaining way how the dogs are a large part of the life of Mike and Bettina, for example when they are working or when travelling to Scotland and England. The viewer follows Hitchcock's life with his ongoing agility adventures and how the course of life develops. It is about the big questions in life, about recognising how short and precious life is and how valuable is the present moment.. People can learn this from dogs...

Watching the film/Distribution

The film will be submitted for its world-premiere to the International Edinburgh Film Festival in August 2025 and we hope that our entry will get accepted. It will also be entered in other film festivals. We will let you know here first where the film can be seen. We hope to find a distributor, so it can be seen in cinemas but if this plan does not work out (we are small fish...) there will be a streaming possibility here on the website.

Here you can find out more about the making of - and about our Scotties!
